The Metropolitan has revealed its collaboration with the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Fair, aiming to promote youth empowerment and enhance skill development.

The organization has become the initial official business partner of the event, highlighting its dedication to a capable and motivated young workforce.

Backed by the Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture along with the Namibia Training Authority, the event unites students, parents, teachers, and business representatives during a three-day gathering that emphasizes the importance of technical education in advancing Namibia’s national growth.

This program, consisting of 17 events held in all 14 regions over a period of six months, provides young people who are not in school and unemployed graduates with hands-on skills that encourage self-employment, business creation, and financial stability.

With this assistance, Metropolitan strengthens its history of supporting education, having been the first to sponsor the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) Career Fair in Eenhana, an event it has backed for three straight years. The company’s focused initiatives in areas like Ohangwena and Kavango East help underrepresented communities access valuable opportunities.

At a recent gathering, Hon. Julius Hambuka, the Governor of the Kavango East region, commended the impact of vocational education in tackling joblessness, while Magret Shapwa, the Metropolitan Sales Manager, urged young people to appreciate the importance of practical abilities, highlighting that achievement is not exclusively for those with traditional academic qualifications.

Karen Janicki, the Chairperson of the National TVET Fair, pointed out a change in attitude, saying, “What used to be seen as a final option is now among the most successful ways to address youth unemployment and a catalyst for business creation.”

Denille Roostee, Marketing Executive at Metropolitan, highlighted that “A lack of strong academic background should never restrict a young person’s future. Vocational training provides access to a range of opportunities, enabling individuals to create, innovate, and engage in entrepreneurship that supports Namibia’s economy. Metropolitan is dedicated to supporting the youth, as Together We Can bring about change and inspire hope.”

The national TVET Fair series will end on 17 November in Ohangwena, with people able to reach Elia Haufiku at 0813324800 for further details regarding the locations and schedule.

Young people present at the National TVET Fair, seen next to Kavango West Governor, Hon. Verna Sinimbo, and the event’s organizers, demonstrate the common dedication to uplifting youth via technical and vocational education.
